Finally my new laptop has arrived! And guess, it's not an Apple!
It's an Hewlett Packard NC6220 laptop. It's running Linux and fortunately it's Novell/Suse Certified so I had no issues getting all hardware running on it. Some things obviously required some little hacks and quirks, but everything is working just fine now. Much thanks to the gentoo-wiki for getting everything running. Want to know the specifications ? Here they are:
- Intel Pentium-M M750 1.83Ghz
- 1GB DDR2 RAM
- 60GB 7200RPM harddisk
- Intel PRO/Wireless 2195ABG (802.11A/B/G)
- 14.1 SXGA+ (1400x1050 native resolution)
- Touchpad + Clit
- Bluetooth
- CD-RW/DVD Combo drive
- Serial Port (getting kinda rare on laptops these days)
- Additional HP Travel battery
It currently has a battery life of 7.5 hours, and it's running Debian Linux just fine :) If you want to run kismet stable on this laptop, make sure you have 2.6.17-rc6 or newer (no newer versions at the moment). So you can use the new in-kernel Intel 2915ABG driver which has a much stabler sniffer firmware.
There seems to be a problem with resuming ide on this laptop and more centrino laptops. This is due to a kernel bug. A patch to fix this bug can be found here
